I’ve talked a few times about the general need to cut back,
that the reduce, reuse, recycle motto should focus more on the first two and
less on the third. Well, after quite a bit of time I can say that we have
finally stopped sending so much to recycling.

We had cut our trash down to less than one eight-gallon bag
per week but we were sending a ton of stuff to recycling. It seems good but all
we are doing is delaying the trip to the landfill. With bulk buying, our
deliveries, and with reusing some of the packaging we were able to cut our
output to recycling down by half for two weeks in a row. A good start. There
will always be something that has to go somewhere but we are going to keep
trying to reduce and reuse.
