A Good Day For Goodwill

Goodwill is a great charity. They help those with disabilities, lack of job skills, and lack of education. They are nonprofit. And they are recycling in motion.

As a culture we have a lot of stuff. We are constantly told that we will need new stuff to be happy or to compete or to fit in. How can you get along in a digitized world without the latest electronic gadget? How could you possible wear clothes that are out of fashion? How long could you really go without changing your furniture?

I think it is pretty easy but I am in the minority.

Part of being green is being simple. We need to have less stuff and be happy with what we have. We have to simplify and decide that if we’re not going to use it someone else might. Also, I believe that part of being green is being organized and clean. So the other day I quickly threw a truck load of stuff in my truck (yes I own a truck, it does use too much gas but at the moment I can’t buy another hybrid) and took it off to Goodwill.

It only takes a minute to drop the stuff off and if you like you can get a receipt to deduct on your taxes. Is there anything you can get rid of?
