The other day when we were walking around Cincinnati we
found a great used vinyl, CD, DVD, and book store called the Another Part Of The
Forest. I love used stores. Not only do they give something else a chance
to avoid the landfill (and you are avoiding another new being produced), they
are generally cheaper, and they are a place to find cool stuff that you can’t
find at a normal store. Case in point: I found a first American edition of my
favorite author, Jonathan Carroll, novel Outside
The Dog Museum. I also found a Modern Library (very nice!) copy of Marcel
Proust’s In Search Of Time Lost Vol. II.
And I found a copy of the CD Let Love In
by Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds. I found all of this for $13. Buying them new,
assuming I could find them, would put me around $50.
See if there are any second hand shop’s near you and go
there to support the people running them.
